Hurry

Lately, I have been astounded at the immensity of things going on around me.  It seems as if life is moving so fast, waiting for no one, and especially not me.  What causes this? What causes us to get so caught up in the falsities of what society deems important? From car payments to work to errands, we consume all of our precious time with what we think is important. Cheesy, I know, but to quote a line from one of my favorite movies, "The world went and got itself in a big damn hurry."  This spoke to me.  I never appreciated it until I sat back and thought about the truth embedded in those eleven words.
Hurry.  Think about the last time you hurried.  The problem with the word is that when you are in the act, you lose the ability to pay attention to detail.  Too often that detail is where the intricacies lie.  Our loves, friendships, and families.  They all are way too precious for us to treat with haste. These aspects of our lives should take priority, yet we fail to give them the attention that they require.  So what is the remedy?
Slow it down. Take a breath. Look around.  Whatever it is, pay attention to the detail that surrounds you.  The most important things in life will flourish when adequate time and effort is put into them.  Living things grow when tended to properly, so tend where necessary my friends. Hurry as little as possible.
